The Bordeaux region is considered by many the most important and well-known wine producing region in France and in the world.  The grapes grown and used in the wine production are Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Cabernet-Franc, Sémillon and Sauvignon.  Most Bordeaux wines are a blend of more than one grape variety and over 80% of production is red wine.
